INTROSPECTION

Byzantine art and icons have a certain influence in my work. This can be observed with the kind of subject, the state of contemplation, the composition and the symbolism. My fascination for this art allowed me to relate to the human being in all its splendour, because it is what challenges me and inhabits my imagination. I am touched by their intensity, their complexity, their fragility and their strength, these invisible things that determine a beings without explanation, their subtle states of mind.

INTUITION

After experimenting with several techniques, encaustic painting has become my preferred medium. My works are created on wooden panels so that the material is well supported and remains stable. My creative process is natural and occurs with improvisation and without constraints. The workshop has therefore imposed itself from the beginning as the privileged place to carry out my research.

The choice of this technique allowed me to feel in harmony in the expression of my creative identity. That is to say, it gives me access to a language that leaves room for all the ambivalences that my creative research entails. Or at the same time, to work on the vague and the detail, the expected and the unexpected, figurative representation and abstract ornament.

IMPROVISATION

In my creations, the treatment involves several stages, such as engraving which reveals dominant lines, the superposition of colours and their transparencies. The addition of gold leaf is not just a decorative effect but a highlighting of the subject, a way of creating attractive areas that reinforce the sometimes blurred or rougher aspect of my textures. Thus, I breathe into the work a sumptuous radiance like an old and precious object marked by my experience, which finally allows me to reveal in my works all the nuances of my intentions, such as manifesting a state of meditation, which is a sort of quest for the absolute for me.

In my creations, I aspire to reach a certain fullness which I hope will be meaningful for the spectator who will admire the work. My wish is to generate a union between the reality and the sacred of the work and thus to offer the possibility of accompanying people's daily lives through my art.

improvisation is the key for me…»
